学校概况

Introduction to the University of Newcastle
Until 1962, Newcastle University was King's College, the part of Durham University devoted to medicine, and had been for over 100 years. The two universities have recently forged a new partnership.
Newcastle provides a wide range of courses and, academically, is not far behind Durham. Medicine, agriculture and fine art are among the degrees at which Newcastle excels. Engineering and technology is the only school in the university larger than medicine.
Newcastle feeds on its relationship with the city, in whose centre you will find its 45-acre site. Nights out in Newcastle's pubs and clubs have acquired a legendary status, helped by a poll that announced the city as one of the world's best party places, after Rio and New Orleans.
Pride in Geordie culture and language is strong - Viz magazine is a great advert for both. Knowledge of Geordie assets is not confined to the north-east: Newcastle Brown, for example, has its fans all over the world, who taste and analyse the delicate brew in minute detail. It also fuels crazy dancers.
Life in Newcastle is not just about the city, however. The students' union runs a vast range of clubs and societies, and entertainment and sports are of a high standard.
Alumni include Kate Adie, Bryan Ferry, and MPs Stephen Hepburn and Joyce Quin.
