布里斯托大学简介（University of Bristol）

学生申请入学的英语语言水平的最底要求是托福550以上或雅思6.0以上。学校有各种学生社团。海外学生可以打工，每周限时20小时以内。中途转学的本科生学生，可以根据原来的专业课程适当的转学分。研究生不能转学。

Introduction to the University of Bristol

University College, Bristol, was founded in 1876 and received a royal charter from Edward VII 33 years later. The University of Bristol is still seen as a traditional alternative to Oxbridge.

On the plus side, it has very high academic standards across both arts and science subjects and, in a booming jobs market, graduates experience little difficulty in finding work: in October 1999, the university information officer reckoned that as few as 3% of that year's graduates were unemployed [according to The Virgin 2001 Alternative Guide to British Universities].

In recent years, more than one-third of students came from the independent sector. However, Bristol has instituted measures to attract students from schools with poor A-level records, and has doubled the number of students who come from local schools.

Weighing it up, a place of Bristol's size is likely to resist stereotyping. One student journalist sums up its strengths: "Academic, but not Oxbridge. Vibrant, but not dangerous. Big, but not London." The University is also easy to get to.

Bristol gave birth to its own sound and some of Britain's best musicians of recent years, including Massive Attack, Portishead and Roni Size. The students' union does good work in this area.
