布赖顿大学在全英比赛中又获两牌
Sophie St.Clair Jones (16) of Chichester, came back from the UK School Games with Bronze and Gold medals for fencing.
In the semi finals for the individual épée Sophie fenced one of the most exciting fights of the tournament, eventually just losing out on a place in the finals by one hit. The following day Sophie fenced for England in the Épée Team; despite being the youngest in the team, Sophie played a very important part in securing England's gold medal.
Lloyd Jefferson, Ryle, also attended the school games and came back with team Silver for Wales in épée. Lloyd was also reserve for the foil team, stepping in at the last minute when one of the team was injured. Wales went on to win gold, although Lloyd's skills were not required.
The UK School Games are for the top athletes of school age who are selected to compete by their sport's governing body. The event replicates a major adult multi-sport competition and has opening and closing ceremonies together with an athlete's village; it is designed to encourage these top sportsmen and women to obtain places in future Olympics.
