佩斯里大学向各种学生敞开大门

Prospective students have the chance to find out more about the University of Paisley’s career-focused courses at its forthcoming campus Open Day events for 2007.

Following the merger of the University of Paisley and Bell College on 1 August, creating Scotland’s largest modern university, with over 18,000 students, it is an extremely exciting time to study at the University.

Information on the University’s full range of undergraduate and postgraduate full-time and part-time study options will be covered at the information events. Updates on the University’s proposal to change name to University of the West of Scotland will also be available.

The University’s series of events gets underway on Wednesday 3 October 2007, with an Open Night, 6pm-8pm, at the Crichton Campus, Dumfries where the University offers study options in Business, Computing, Information Technology, Management, Human Resources, Health, Nursing and Childhood Studies.

This is followed by events at Paisley Campus on Thursday 4 October 2007, 12.30pm – 3.30pm and 5pm – 7pm and at University Campus, Hamilton on Wednesday 10 October 2007, 12.30pm-3.30pm and 5pm-7pm. Visitors to the campuses can find out more about the range of options available in Business, Computing, Engineering, Health, Languages, Media, Midwifery, Nursing, Science, Social Sciences and Sports.

For those interested in study in Education a specific Education Open Night is taking place at University Campus, Ayr on Thursday 25 October 2007, 6.30pm-8pm. Then on Friday 26 October, 10am-1pm at Ayr, you can find out more about the University’s range of options in Media, Music, Nursing and Midwifery.

The Open Day events will give visitors the chance to discover why the University has a reputation for being an innovator in the Scottish Higher Education sector, with prospective students having the opportunity to speak to staff about existing and new course developments, discuss their career interests, discover more about facilities at each campus and gain insight from current students about life at the University.

Kirsty Knox, University of Paisley Education Liaison Manager, said: “The aim of these Open Day events is to provide prospective students with information on the full range of options available at each of our campuses, so that they can make an informed choice about their future studies.

“These events are an ideal opportunity for school and college students, as well as for parents, teachers and advisors to find out what the University has to offer and to participate in some exciting interactive displays and demonstrations.”

Displays and demonstrations planned at the Open Day events include screenings of computer animation and computer games work by students; musical performances; radio and digital broadcasting; displays of artwork; motorsport and product design students’ work; and forensic science displays.
