Congratulations, Manon!

Congratulations to Manon Wyn Williams on winning the Bryn Terfel Scholarship!

Competing against seven other individual -- previous winners in their own categories in the Urdd National Eisteddfod earlier this year -- she was declared overall winner following her stage performance. She presented two pieces, a selection from one of Shakespeare's plays and a monologue she herself had written.

This accolade is the latest in a year marked by striking success. For her creative writing, she was awarded the Drama Medal for competitors under 25 years old at the Anglesey Eisteddfod, the Prose Medal at the Anglesey Eisteddfod, and the Drama Medal in the Urdd National Eisteddfod. For her stage performances, she won the main acting prize during the Urdd National Eisteddfod and shared second place -- with Aaron Morris, another Bangor student -- in the Richard Burton Memorial Prize during the Flintshire National Eisteddfod.

Manon is about to start the final year of her degree course in Welsh and Theatre and Media Studies.
