演员Michael York 访问威尔士大学兰彼得学院
Actor Michael York visited the University in early September during the filming of an episode of the BBC Wales family history programme Coming Home.
This episode of Coming Home focuses upon Michael’s father, Joseph Gwynne Johnson, who was a student at Lampeter during the 1930s. The BBC crew filmed Ruth Russell-Jones showing Michael his father’s entry including details of his academic achievements and scholarships in the Register in the Founders’ Library. Ruth also found some pictures of Michael’s father in the Lampeter photographic archive including one of him in the 1934-35 rugby team.
Michael also visited the Old Hall and the University Chapel, where he was filmed receiving his father’s war record book. After leaving Lampeter, Joseph Johnson studied at Oriel College, Oxford, joined the army and then moved into the retail trade.
Michael York has a long career in both films and on the stage but is best known for his role as d'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers, Logan in Logan’s Run and as Basil Exposition in all three Austin Powers films.
The broadcast date for this episode of Coming Home is not yet known but is likely to be towards the end of this year.
