Students are not the only new presence on site at Edge Hill University this week. The book - seller Blackwell will also have a new home online and on campus with its first UK full time Connect outlet in the University’s Learning Resource Centre.

Edge Hill is the first University to be given its own bespoke Blackwell web site, which offers a 5% discount and can be accessed 365 days a year. The venture came about due to the success of the Times Higher award winning student financial support package which gives fee-paying students £200 to spend on study materials.

Readinglist material as well as a range of other products from Ipod accessories to wireless mice can be bought in the new outlet. Students can also search from 4 millions books on-line, with in-stock items delivered within 48 hours.

Alison Mackenzie, Dean of Learning Services said ‘This partnership is the first of its kind and will deliver a unique service to all our students. It aims to contribute to their academic success by offering easy access to an extensive range of textbooks including those on their reading lists.'

Emma Hart, a second year History student working in the outlet said, 'I wish that we had had Blackwell in my first year. Being able to buy your whole book list in one place will be a real bonus.’

Richard Mower, Blackwell Online Commercial manager said, ‘Blackwell have been supplying books for more than 127 years. Core to our brand is our expertise in supplying academic and course related titles. We understand the needs of not only institutions, but of students and lecturers alike.’
