Student Art Exhibitions in Carlisle
Two University of Cumbria student art exhibitions are taking place in Carlisle over the next week. From Monday 17 September, MA Contemporary Fine Art students are exhibiting their work at the Caldewgate Campus, while MA Contemporary Applied Arts students are holding their exhibition at the Brampton Road Campus. Both shows are open to the public all week from 10am to 4pm until Saturday 22 September.
The Fine Art show (entitled ‘Over and Out’) is a celebration of current contemporary fine art and includes work by graduating artists and current MA Fine Art students. The exhibited works are an eclectic mix of painting, drawing, installation art and interdisciplinary work that is at the forefront of current contemporary arts practice.
The Applied Arts exhibition features the work of five artists covering Embroidery, Shibori Dying, Print, Hat-making, Feltmaking and Weave. The work is of the highest standard showing highly individual use of colour, pattern and texture, which is characteristic of each maker.
