去英国留学，这些基本词汇搞不清楚可是会闹出大笑话的。

1. Pants

美国：长裤，外裤

英国：内裤

容易误解的句子：Wow, your mom has the nicest pants!

2. Braces

美国：牙套

英国：裤子背带

容易误解的句子：I used to always get food caught in my braces as a kid.

3. Biscuit

美国：一种黄油餐包，类似于英国的scone

英国：饼干

容易误解的句子：I can't eat a biscuit unless it's dripping in gravy.

4. First floor

美国：最底层

英国：底层上面那一层，通常是2层，英国底层是ground floor

容易误解的句子：That super important meeting is taking place on the first floor - don't be late!

5. Fancy dress

美国：礼服

英国：戏服，多为化装舞会穿的那种

容易误解的句子：Those girls invited us to a fancy dress party tonight.

美国：棉被

英国：奶嘴

容易误解的句子：I can't fall asleep without my favorite comforter.

9. Cider

美国：一种不含酒精的苹果汁

英国：一种由苹果发酵而来的甜啤酒

容易误解的句子：I used to drink cider every day as a kid.

10. Knob

美国：圆形门把手

英国：“弟弟”

容易误解的句子：I broke my knob rushing out of the house this morning.

11. Bin

美国：储物箱

英国：垃圾桶

容易误解的句子：I put all my grandmother's valuables in a bin.

12. Garden

美国：用来种花和农作物的指定区域

英国：后院

容易误解的句子：No thanks. I don't want to drink beers in your garden because I'm not a crazy person.
