大学简介
成立于1865年的牛津布鲁克斯大学以其授课和课程的不断创新和高质量而享有国际声誉。其在25年前倡导的模块学位课程现已陆续被新老大学所采用。大学以其雄厚的实力为骄傲，在科目教授上，侧重实际应用。

Introduction to the Oxford Brooks University
Oxford Brookes history goes back to the 19th century when an art school was founded in the city. When science and technology courses were added, it became Oxford Technical College and then, in 1970, Oxford Polytechnic. It gained university status in 1992.
It is based at sites on the outskirts of Oxford - Headington is about a mile and a half from the city centre and Wheatley is five miles away.
Oxford Brookes is one of Britain's leading new universities in terms of the courses that it offers. Modular degrees were pioneered here and the university encourages students to study subjects outside their main area of interest. This enables the vocational courses (hotel management, for example) to be mixed with the more purely academic (such as history of art).
The quality of teaching is impressive and employment rates among graduates are high. However, there is a relatively low proportion of state school students here: in 1997/98, only 67% of undergraduates came from the state sector (for comparison, it was 62% at Durham).
Most first years live in university accommodation. The university takes sport seriously, especially rowing, basketball, climbing, hockey and rugby - former England rugby union international Tim Rodber studied here.
The students' union hosts events at the 1,200-capacity Helena Kennedy Student Centre - Faithless and Travis recently played here - as well as club and film nights to keep students entertained.
